Mobility planning important to achieve the goals of our community (Perspectives Vanier: Feb 2022)

The way people move in our City differs from one area to the next.

Whether it is from the downtown core to Ottawa’s suburban neighbourhood, the discussion should focused on mobility challenges within communities and plan for our City’s growth needs and modal shift needed across the City.

That is why, in addition to the City-led public open house on the Transportation Master Plan (TMP), Coun. King and I will host a Rideau-Vanier and Rideau-Rockcliffe wards specific meeting.

The Transportation Masterplan sets an essential vision for transportation in our City, influencing future network improvements and investments. To achieve this goal productively and adequately, it is important decisions and discussions must occur, including meaningful feedback and input from the public. The City is currently in Phase 3 of the TMP review and is seeking the public’s opinion on proposed policies and prioritizing active transportation projects. Residents are encouraged to visit engage.ottawa.ca to learn more about how you can provide feedback on the proposed draft TMP policies and the pedestrian and cycling projects presented.

Our focus will be meaningful to our community needs and appropriately represent these needs in the TMP.

We will host a meeting on March 1, 2022, and will have TMP staff policies that are related to these seven areas:

Review and update truck route movements (including interprovincial crossing discussion)

Vanier Parkway urbanisation

Beechwood and McArthur Ave complete street investments

Cycling network improvements (Cummings Bridge, McArthur/Gardenvale)

Missing sidewalks on a residential street in Vanier

Improving winter maintenance (bus stops, schools, place of worship, sidewalk accessibility)

LRT lost link connections (St. Laurent EA, Alta-Vista corridor, Lees)

Whether by bicycle, car, foot or transit – it is at the core of how we develop or expand and what this means to our communities should be the foundation of how this plan is developed and implemented.

Good Day!

Thank you for reaching out to my City Councillor website. I was blessed to represent residents and businesses in Lowertown, Sandy Hill, and Vanier at the City of Ottawa for 12 years (2010 to 2022).

I am keeping the website active, as a former city councillor and community leader so that residents can review and access projects, priorities and some of the most serious issues during the period I was a City Councillor for Ward 12, Rideau-Vanier.

If you are looking to connect with the City of Ottawa, I encourage you to call 311.

If you are seeking to connect with your City councillor, Stephanie Plante, please email (Stephanie.plante@ottawa.ca) or call (613-580-2482).
