Accomplishments
Over the last eight years, I have worked hard, to bring positive change in our community
Sandy Hill
Residential Street Improvements on Mann Avenue and Range Avenue:
o Worked with city staff to replace water mains, sewers, and lateral services along Mann Avenue, Range Road, and Russell Avenue. This included a complete renewal of the road’s sidewalks, road structure, and pavement, including a new sidewalk on the East side of Range Road and a raised intersection at Somerset street East and Range Road.
o Worked with City staff to renew sanitary and storm sewers and extend curbs along Templeton Street. This included the addition of a sidewalk on the north side of Templeton Street between Chapel Street and Blackburn Avenue
o Worked with OC Transpo to install an additional bus shelter on Laurier Ave. E to serve transit riders in Sandy Hill
Worked with stakeholders and City staff to finance the redevelopment and expansion of Arts Court. This includes a 5,860-square-metre (63,000 square feet) art gallery, a 21-storey mixed-use tower at 60-70 Waller St., a 250-seat multi-purpose and film-screening room, and a 120-seat theatre and four classrooms for the University of Ottawa.
Worked to advance OCh improvements at the following locations:
o 721 Chapel: Flooring, elevators, paint, lighting, security enhancements
o Townhouses: Park improvements, exterior upgrades (numbering, doors, railings), roofs
Built the bio-retention gardens on Stewart Street.
Installed green infrastructure (i.e. planters) on Mann Avenue
Developed the Somerset Street E depaving and landscaping project
Planning the Mackenzie King Bridge complete corridor post-Light Rail Train improvements
Added speed calming measures on Chapel Street and Cobourg Street
Added a new stop sign on Cobourg Street at Besserer Street
Introduced speed boards on Mann Avenue, Rideau Street at Fontaine Place, Cobourg Street
Made improvements to cycling safety by adding cycle zone delineators on Cumberland Street, Stewart Street, and Wilbrod Street
Made changes to parking along Osgoode Street to improve sightlines along Sweetland Avenue.
Chairing the Sandy Hill Town and Gown Committee resulted in many community initiatives such as bylaw changes, zoning changes, creating the landlord education sessions, the Welcome Week Walkabouts, Panda Game safety planning, St. Patrick’s Day safety planning, etc.
Supporting Strathcona Heights Homework Club
Building a virtual community house to support tenants at Strathcona Heights
Investing in the improvement of the art spaces at the Arts Court Facility
Introducing winter parking ban options at Strathcona Park and uOttawa parking lots
Addition of a new elevated intersection at the uOttawa underpass and the Colonel By drive to create a safe pathway for pedestrians and cyclists
Supported traffic calming measures (i.e. flex stakes) on Goulburn Avenue, Marlborough Avenue, and Besserer Street
Added “slow” pavement markings and buffered parking lanes on Chapel Street, Range Road, and Mann Avenue
Installed a community entrance sign at Mann Avenue and King Edward Avenue

- Supporting Strathcona Heights Homework Club (swim passes, wifi, space, etc)
- Chairing the Town and Gown Committee by bringing together residents, the University, City staff and students
- Introduced Interim Control By Law to stop bunkhouses
- Conducted zoning review of R4 zones
- Supporting the Sandy Hill Somerset Street East depaving project
- Investing in lobby, exterior furniture and flooring replacement at the Silver Heights Building Improvements (senior building)
- Focused on heritage protection by introducing two new zones (Heritage Conservation Districts) to protect our built heritage
- Supporting the Prime Minister’s Row Initiative: program designed to showcase the PM’s who have lived in our community. One of the initial projects is a mural at Lover’s Lane
- Building on the success of the Panda Game, Welcome Week Walkabout, Landlord Education Session with measures to protect the quality of life of residents by piloting a solid waste project in Sandy Hill
- Led the charge for Provincial changes to PayDay Loan Act by lobbying for authority to all municipalities in Ontario to control zoning for those lending type stores
- Supporting Neighbourhood Watches as part of the Ottawa Police Changes
- Fundraising at Optimiste Park to ensure low-income youth can swim without a barrier
- Converting Richelieu Court into family units
- Bringing the Beechwood Farmer’s Market to Optimiste Park
- Investing in building improvements at 300 Lacasse (senior’s building) including lobby, elevators, boilers, roof
- Helped with Affordable food preparation by developing Lowertown Resource Center partnership for community kitchen at Friel residents of Uottawa
- Responding to community concerns around night time safety and visibility by adding LED lights
- Invested in balcony repairs at 160 Charlotte Street
- Invested in building improvements at Bélanger Manor (senior’s residence) including lobby improvements, community room flooring, window replacement
- Worked to obtain Heritage Designation of MacDonald Gardens Park
- Invested in 380 Murray with infrastructure improvements to the exterior building, balconies, parking garage and exterior spaces improvements
- Supported the creation of the EquiPass
- Supported the Geese Management Project to protect our pathways and parks users
- Supported new affordable subsidies for Child Care with a  target of no waiting lists
- Supported 35 new support workers in our City run long term care facilities
