December 9th

We are reaching out to you today as there are upcoming after-school COVID-19 immunization clinics planned at schools in your Ward this weekend. Ottawa Public Health is working hard to increase first dose vaccination rates for five- to 11-year-olds before the winter holidays – with more than 40 per cent of eligible children having already rolled up their sleeve, put on a brave face, and received their first dose.

The after-school clinics are drop-in, on a first come first served basis. There is still a lot of capacity for vaccinations for children aged five to 11 and their families – these clinics are open to anyone born in 2016 or earlier who lives in a neighbourhood near the school and does not need to be students at that school. Parent or guardian consent is required for children ages five to 11.

Please note that these after-school clinics are being promoted within the community by Ottawa Public Health school public health nurses, community engagement staff, and partners, and we are working closely with the schools to inform families by letter. Please visit our website for more information about the importance of vaccinations for children aged five to 11.

We ask that you please help the promotion of these clinics (listed below) and encourage COVID-19 immunizations for the 5-11 age group. Please feel free to retweet and share the graphics and photos attached, and OPH’s social media posts are also included below.
