Re-Opening of Ottawa Public Library Services

I am happy to share more updates on the re-opening of Public Library branches.

As of August 17th, the Vanier Public Library will now be open !

New in-person services include browsing, use of public computers by appointment, and card registration. Employees at these select locations will also be available to assist customers with readers’ advisory and related questions.

At this time, the re-opening of the Rideau Public Library will be determined at a later date.

The Bookmobile will also be offering services at of August 17th, serving the following stops:

  • Hunt Club (3310 McCarthy)
  • Bayshore (175 Woodridge)
  • Riverside (747 Ridgewood)
  • Farley Mowat (75 Waterbridge)
  • Rideauview (4310 Shoreline)
  • Strathcona (731 Chapel Crescent)
  • Carleton Heights (1665 Apeldoorn)
  • Vars (5750 Buckland)
  • Cambridge (250 Cambridge Street North)

The Bookmobile will begin offering contactless returns and holds pickup service on Monday, August 17, with a modified schedule. No appointment is needed to pick up holds or return items at the Bookmobile. At this time, in-person browsing will not be available on the Bookmobile. Bookmobile holds that are designated for a closed stop will be available for pick up at any of the open stops on the modified schedule.
