The City of Ottawa is undertaking construction of the Montreal Road Revitalization project from North River Road to St. Laurent Boulevard. The project also includes reconstruction of North River Road from Montreal Road to the North River Road cul-de-sac for a total distance of 560 metres length.
Utility construction and project tender update
In the months of August and September:
- Enbridge Gas completed pipe work along Montreal Road between the Vanier Parkway and Marier Avenue. Work along this section of Montreal Road will be completed by early October. The next and last phase of the Enbridge work will include construction at Cantin Street, Ste-Anne Avenue and Mona Avenue. This work is expected to be completed by the end of November.
- Hydro Ottawa continued the installation of underground structures and ducts along Montreal Road. This is required for the burial of the overhead Hydro lines. The next phase of the hydro burial will focus on the north side of Montreal Road between North River Road and Vanier Parkway and will continue through November.
The contract for this project is currently out to tender and contractors are in the process of preparing bids for the project. It is anticipated that the construction contract will be awarded in November. Construction of water and sewers pipes on Montreal Road will begin in early Spring 2020.
Lane closures will continue along Montreal Road in October and November. The Enbridge Gas work on Montreal Road will require closures of lanes on Montreal Road for several blocks during morning and afternoon peak hours. A minimum of one lane in each direction along Montreal Road will be maintained at all times. Please visit ottawa.ca for the latest traffic updates.
